“Responsible Pet
Owners Alliance Lobby Day”
Wednesday, March
13, 2013
Third Floor Conference Room 3E.4 (next to Senate Gallery)
Capitol Building, 1100 Congress Ave in Austin, Texas
Room is reserved
from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Come in and pick up your legislators’ packets anytime.
Someone will be in the room at all times.
Name tags will be optional due to “animal rights” harassment.
10:00 AM: Welcome from RPOA
Introductions to our lobbyist Former Speaker Gibson Lewis and
invited representatives from American Kennel Club, United Kennel
Club, The International Cat Association, the Cat Fanciers'
Association and possibly other animal interest groups.
No food or animals allowed in room.
Public Cafeteria on Capitol Extension Level E1.
(See “Available Parking” and Capitol
Complex Maps for all floors at other links!)
All
attendees are expected to contact their own state
representatives to
make an appointment with them or their staff, if necessary.
"Drop Ins" to legislators’ offices are an option if appointments
can't be made. You can register and leave our RPOA packet with
staff. Your elected representatives can be found at:
www.capitol.state.tx.us on the home page, fill in lower
right form with your address and zip code.
If
you are new to the legislative process, that’s no problem.
Meetings are brief!
We’ll have packets to give your legislators and suggested
dialogue.
First question for your legislator is: “Do you own a pet?”
“Let’s Take Back Texas
Animal Issues”
Who has more animal
expertise than we do?
To
register attendance, email
rpoa@texas.net
with names of your elected representatives.
Legislators always like to meet their constituents
personally in their offices.
If the legislator is busy, his aide will meet with you. The
aides are very important and will convey your comments to the
legislator. Due to the large number of bills filed each year,
legislators depend heavily on their aides for guidance when
voting.
By leaving written material, your opinions will be crystal
clear.
